MODERN SIMPLICITY - A taste of the good life in a refined and elegant bath suite.
The project scope included the remodeling of a master bedroom suite - enlarging the bath area and relocating the master closet. The client wanted to use high quality, durable finishes in a simple yet detail conscious manner. All of the work designed by the owner occurs within the existing structure and no additional space is added. Only minor structural work was needed.
A few challenges for the project:

- The Kohler shower fixture required the addition of an 80 gallon water heater and direct piped ¾” hot & cold water lines to the new location on the second floor. The lines had to be carefully routed through the family room walls and ceiling from the basement.
- The built-in fireplace/display shelves/TV unit was completely created through design-build, since all of the components had to intermesh due to size constraints.
Some of the creative details involved in the project:
- The walk in closet was relocated to the other side of the bedroom giving an abundance of space (220 SF) for the new bath area
- Creation of a 45 SF walk in shower, inclusive of a full bench
- Custom medicine cabinet/mirror with ambient cove light integrated into unit, high & low
- Shoji style doors with frosted glass for privacy
The shower floor and bench was completely coated with AcryLabs acrylic-electrometric coating, ensuring a waterproof seal behind all of the detail work to follow. The bench seat and shower shelf were fabricated from marble slabs matching the tile used throughout he bath. The center piece of the shower is the shower tower, set against the unique mosaic glass wall tile. The glass tile was used to accent the tub area, fireplace and built in shelves. The two sided gas fireplace exudes warmth on any type of day for the bedroom and the tub area. A warm colored granite counter top has ample space for a make-up area as well as two Porcher vessel sinks / faucets.
The owners were thrilled with the final results and all tradespersons were proud to be part of the team that generated such a spectacular project. The clients enjoy using the bath on a daily basis and are completely happy with all of the decisions that led to this elegant bath creation. The bath project is a one of a kind gem when it comes to Master Bath renovations.
